All students who take English classes at THS must complete a summer reading assignment. See below for your English class's reading expectations. Novels will be available for check out in the library until school is out and after that, in the front office, Monday-Thursday, starting May 28. There will not be homeroom quizzes and a Summer Reading Celebration at the beginning of the school year. Instead, students will be expected to have read these texts and be able to participate in assignments and activities related to them during the first week of their English class, whether they are taking it in the fall or spring semester.
English I—Regular
The texts are included HERE for reading or printing. Directions: All students will read "from When I Was Puerto Rican” and “Finding a Voice: A Taiwanese Family Adapts to America.” Also choose one of these: "American History” or “The Rules of the Game” (An excerpt from Joy Luck Club)
