Dollar General Literacy Foundation
Library Receives DG Literacy Grant

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation recently awarded Tennessee High School a $1500 grant to support youth literacy. This grant is part of more than $3.4 million the organization awarded to 915 recipients on August 28, 2018.

Announcements

  • On Thursday, November 15, a “CODE YELLOW” Lockdown will be called at 10:25 by Mrs. Kirk or Mr. Pendleton. 
  • Students interested in participating on the Science Bowl Team should meet in Mr. Reece’s classroom after school on Thursday, Nov 15, for a brief meeting.
  • Rhonda Helms has been able to complete the steps for our Member Hub to accept new PTSA members. We would like to make a final membership drive during the next week! Please sign up for PTSA at memberhub.com.
  • Do you like winning awesome prizes? If so, purchase lunch in the cafeteria between November 13th and November 30th, and you will be entered in a drawing to win a gift card from Starbucks, Burger King, or Subway!
  • Any student who needs his or her second semester classes changed please see your counselor before the end of the semester.
  • Students, need community service hours? The YWCA needs volunteers for the 5K Turkey Trot race on Saturday November the 17th. You will need to be there from 7AM to 11AM. If interested, please contact Kateela Serrano, KSerrano@ywcatnva.org , at the
  • Students please download the Viking Nation App and check in each morning for points to win free gifts.
  • Please come to Wellness room 2447 every Wednesday morning from 7:00 – 7:15 a.m. for an encouraging club meeting:  First Priority.  All are WELCOME!  Yes, that’s you.  (We often serve food, too.)
  • The LEAPs after-school program is now open for students!  Hours of operation are from 2:30 PM-5:30 PM daily.  Students should report to the Wellness room (#2447) and report to Mr. Andrew Cross.  THS will offer several after-school activities/clubs that are available to students through the LEAPs grant.  Starting dates and further information for those actives and clubs will be given later.  If interested in joining an after-school activity or club, please contact with Mr. Andrew Cross for further details.

  • ACT ACADEMY by Mrs. Sutherland will be on WONDERFUL Wednesdays in the THS Library after school from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. We will PRACTICE ACT questions and discuss all things ACT.  (It used to be on Thursdays, but it’s now Wednesdays to permit percussion and THS band to come….so show up!).  November 7, 14, 28       NONE on Thanksgiving Break Week December 5 & 12           NONE during Final Exam Week
