Dollar General Literacy Foundation
Library Receives DG Literacy Grant
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation recently awarded Tennessee High School a $1500 grant to support youth literacy. This grant is part of more than $3.4 million the organization awarded to 915 recipients on August 28, 2018.

Daily Announcements

  • The library will be closed after school on Friday, 9/21. 
  • NHS applications can be found on your Homeroom Canvas page in the Announcements section. Applications are due by 2:30 on September 21. NHS Applicants: Be sure to print and staple your application and turn it in to Mrs. Story (room 3424) by 2:30 on Friday, September 21.  
  • Senior and junior class officer photos will be taken Thursday, Sept. 20, and sophomore and freshman class officer photos will be taken Friday, Sept 21. Meet in the front lobby at 10:30, dressed nicely.
  • The senior ad deadline has been extended through Friday, Sept. 28.  No ads will be accepted after this time.  Please see Mrs. Vickers if you have questions.
  • Girls basketball workouts are taking place on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Please see Coach Bright if you are NOT working out and are interested in joining the team.
  • The practice SAT, the PSAT, will be given at THS on Wednesday, October 24th during first and second period in the wellness rooms. Any junior interested in taking this college entrance exam please bring $16.00 into the counseling office as soon as possible. The PSAT is the qualifying test that students must take in their junior year to enter the National Merit Scholarship Competitions for college scholarships that will be awarded in 2019. Although the test is aimed at students in the 11th grade, sophomores are encouraged to take it as practice for their junior year. To register please bring cash or a check made out to Tennessee High School into the counseling office as soon as possible. Spaces are limited please don’t hesitate to sign up.
  • Beta Club fees are due October 5.  Payments WILL NOT be accepted after this date. If you have trouble making the payment, please see Ms. Hayes or Mrs. Sauceman BEFORE the due date.
  • For the class officer/court results, click here.
  • Retakes for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, faculty, staff, and administration will be Sept 21. If students want to purchase a package, they may order online using the code AA508009Y1 or by picking up an ordering envelope in the guidance office. If a student had previously ordered a package and desires a retake, he or she will need to return the package to the photographer to avoid the sitting fee. This is the last chance to appear in the yearbook.
  • First Priority:  Please come to Wellness room 2447 every Wednesday morning from 7:00 – 7:15 a.m. for an encouraging club meeting.  All are WELCOME!  Yes, that’s you.  (We often serve food, too.)
  • The LEAPs after-school program is now open for students!  Hours of operation are from 2:30 PM-5:30 PM daily.  Students should report to the Wellness room (#2447) and report to Mr. Andrew Cross.  THS will offer several after-school activities/clubs that are available to students through the LEAPs grant.  Starting dates and further information for those actives and clubs will be given later.  If interested in joining an after-school activity or club, please contact Mr. Andrew Cross for further details.
  • Edgemont Tower need volunteers to do small jobs around the building.  If interested, please call Edgemont Tower office at 423-797-4451 and ask for Donna.  This is a great way to get community hours.
  • ACT ACADEMY by Mrs. Sutherland will be on Wednesdays in the THS Library after school from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. We will PRACTICE ACT questions and discuss all things ACT. 
  • Anyone interested in Wrestling needs to meet for Pre-season Wrestling Practice Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 2:45 at the Coach’s Office.  Beginner wrestlers are welcome.
