Posted on 12/13/2018
Congratulations to the following students of Mrs. Mariel Story who placed in the top 15 of Eastman's Black History Oratorical Contest:  David Bieger, Madison Carter, Olivia Millwood, Jordan Thompson, Alie Bassett, Joel Hyden, and Lance Tudor. Additionally, Bieger, Carter, and Millwood placed in the TOP FIVE.  THS dominated with more finalists than any other school in the region.

The top 15 are invited to the Eastman 2019 Annual Black History Luncheon/Contest on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at the Eastman Lodge, where they will receive special recognition and a small token of appreciation for ranking within the top 15 essays. The top 5 essays will be presented by their authors.  Based on these presentations, the 1st place student will receive a $1,000 cash prize; 2nd place $500; 3rd place $300; and 4th and 5th place $250.

All of the students who participated in the January event and their families are also invited to attend the Black History Community Event at the Toy Reid F. Employee Center on Thursday, February 21, 2019.  Eastman will recognize ALL oratorical contest participants at this event.  The 1st place winner of the essay contest in January will present their essay at the beginning of this event.

Congratulations once again to these worthy students!
