Coach Michael McMeans is back for his 4th year at the helm of the Viking Basketball Program. He led the Vikings to the first conference championship in 40 years in 2022-23. He came to Tennessee High from Sullivan South High School where he served as the head boys' basketball coach for 4 seasons. While at South, Coach McMeans' teams won 80 games including 30 wins in his final season. South won the 2020-21 conference regular season and district tournament championship for the first time in 36 years. South advanced to the substate and won, moving on to the state tournament for the first and only time in the 41-year history of the school. Coach McMeans was named Three Rivers Conference Coach of the Year along with the Northeast Tennessee Coach of the Year and the Times News Coach of the Year. Coach McMeans is excited to build a winning culture at Tennessee High. Coach McMeans considers himself a player's coach who likes to play fast and aggressive. He likes to put his players in a position to play free and make plays. Coach McMeans is excited for the future of Tennessee High Boys' Basketball. Coach McMeans has an undergraduate degree from ETSU in Marketing/Management, a Masters of Education from Milligan College and an Ed.S. from Union College. Coach McMeans is married to his wife Kayla and they have two boys, Colton and Kyson, who love being at the gym and a part of the basketball program.

Hayden Cassell
Assistant Coach
Coach Cassell is excited to begin his second season at Tennessee High. In his first season, he helped lead the Vikings to the conference championship. Coach Cassell graduated from Brevard College in 2022 where he played basketball. He also currently serves as an Educational Assistant at Tennessee Middle School. In his spare time, he likes to play golf and fish and enjoys spending time with friends and family. Coach Cassell is looking forward to a great season.

Neal Phillips
Assistant Coach
Coach Phillips is beginning his 19th season at THS. He will be the head coach of the JV team as well as helping with the varsity. Prior to coming to THS in 2005, Coach Phillips taught and coached basketball for three years in Greensboro, NC. He teaches in the CTE department at THS and lives in Bristol.

Roger Clark
Assistant Coach
Coach Roger Clark is back for another season with the Vikings. He has been a part of the staff since 2021. He helped the Vikings to the 2021-22 Conference Championship. Prior to coming to THS, he coached basketball at Colonial Heights Middle School from 2010-2012 and then at Sullivan North from 2013-2021. He has also coached soccer and softball during his coaching career. Coach Clark is looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for these Vikings. |
